Multiple DHCP servers are two or more DHCP servers that are configured with the same scope of IP addresses and provide IP address assignments to multiple clients on a network. This setup is used in large networks that need to provide DHCP services from multiple locations. It is also used to provide redundancy in the event that one DHCP server fails.
