A network switch is a networking device that connects devices on a computer network by using packet switching to receive, process, and forward data to the destination device. Switches can connect multiple devices, such as computers, printers, and servers, to form a local area network (LAN). By connecting multiple devices in the same network, users are able to share files, access the Internet, and communicate with each other. Switches can also provide a layer of security by isolating network segments and preventing unauthorized access to important data.
