VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network) is a network of computers that behave as if they are connected to the same wire even though they may actually be physically located on different segments of the network. VLANs are configured to divide a physical LAN into multiple logical LANs, thus allowing for the segmentation of broadcast domains, improved security, and increased performance.
