A server power supply is a device used to convert alternating current (AC) from a local power grid into direct current (DC) used by a computer or server. It provides the essential energy needed to operate components such as microprocessors, hard drives, and fans. Server power supplies come in many shapes and sizes, ranging from large rack–mounted PSUs that can power multiple servers to smaller desktop models designed to provide power to only one computer.
