RAID 0 (also known as striping) is a data storage technology that combines multiple hard disk drives into one logical unit. It distributes data evenly across the drives and provides improved performance and larger capacity. RAID 1 (also known as mirroring) is a data storage technology that combines multiple hard disk drives into one logical unit. It creates an exact replica of data on two or more drives and provides data redundancy, fault tolerance and improved performance.
