1. Use SSH key–based authentication: SSH keys are an more secure alternative to password–based authentication, because a private key is much harder to crack than a password. To use this type of authentication, generate a pair of SSH keys on the client computer and copy the public key to the server.
2. Disable root login: By default, SSH allows root user to log in remotely. It‘s better to disable this feature as it increases security by preventing malicious users from using root–level access.
3. Limit users: Configure SSH to only allow specific users to access the server. This can be done by editing the sshd_config file and adding AllowUsers followed by the list of users you want to give access
