1. Clear your DHCP leases from the router: You will need to access your router‘s administration page. Once you have access, look for the DHCP or LAN settings. This will vary depending on what router you have and the brand. You should see an option to clear or release the DHCP lease.
2. Reboot your router and computer: Once you have cleared the DHCP leases, restart both your router and your computer.
3. Renew your IP address: On a Windows computer, open a command prompt and type “ipconfig /renew”. On a Mac computer, open the Terminal application and type “sudo ipconfig set en0 renew”. This will force your computer to request a new IP address from the router.
The best way to force a DHCP server to assign a new IP address is to release the current IP address and then renew the IP address request. To do this, you can use the ipconfig /release command followed by the ipconfig /renew command in the Command Prompt window.
