VMware CPU allocation works by dividing a physical processor’s available resources among multiple virtual machines. This allows each virtual machine to have access to CPU resources on demand, without needing to reserve a specific amount of CPU time. The allocation of CPU resources is managed by the hypervisor, which is the software responsible for running the virtual machines. The hypervisor divides the physical processor’s resources into multiple virtual CPUs, which are then allocated to the virtual machines. Depending on the workload, the hypervisor can dynamically adjust the amount of CPU resources allocated to each virtual machine. This ensures that each virtual machine is able to access the amount of CPU resources it needs, while ensuring that no one virtual machine has access to more resources than it needs.
