1. Determine the type of IP address. Depending on the network, you may need to assign a static IP address or a dynamic IP address.
2. Open the network settings. On Windows, open the Control Panel and click “Network and Internet.” On Mac, open System Preferences and click “Network.”
3. Select the network interface for which you want to assign an IP address.
4. Click the properties button for the selected network interface.
5. Select the “Use the following IP address” radio button.
6. Enter the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway.
7. Select the “Use the following DNS server addresses” radio button.
8. Enter the IP addresses of the preferred and alternate DNS servers.
9. Click the “OK” button to save your changes.
