1. Get certified. Many organizations and employers prefer to hire white hat hackers who have official certifications in the field. Consider the Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) certification from EC-Council or the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from ISC2.
2. Learn the fundamentals. A good white hat hacker needs to understand the basics of networking, operating systems, and programming languages. Take courses in these areas, read books, and watch tutorial videos.
3. Understand the laws and regulations. Make sure you are familiar with the laws and regulations related to data security and hacking so you know what is and isn’t allowed.
4. Develop your skills. As a white hat hacker, you need to be able to think like a hacker to identify security vulnerabilities and develop ways to protect against them. Practice your skills on safe test systems and websites.
5. Keep current. The world of security is constantly changing, so make sure you stay up to date on the latest trends and technologies. Read blogs, attend conferences, and follow industry news.
