The easiest way to check if a switch is Layer 3 is to look at its feature set. Layer 3 switches are typically marked with “L3” or “Layer 3” somewhere in their product descriptions. Another way to check is to look at the ports themselves. Layer 3 switches typically have a range of ports dedicated to routing, such as Gigabit Ethernet, SFP, and fiber ports. If a switch has any of these ports, then it is likely a Layer 3 switch.
