To cut a Cat 5 cable, you will need a pair of wire cutters, a flathead screwdriver, and a crimp tool. Start by inserting the end of the cable into the wire cutters, making sure to line up the blades with the insulation of the cable. Squeeze the handles together firmly in order to cut through the cable. Remove any excess insulation from the end of the cable, and then lightly flatten out the individual wires with the flathead screwdriver. Finally, use the crimp tool to terminate the wires in the eight-pin connector.
