1. Run a scanning program: Most anti–virus programs come with their own scanning tool which looks out for any malicious software on your computer. Run a full scan of all your files and folders and make sure to check for anything suspicious.
2. Look for strange behavior: If your computer is acting strangely or some applications are not working as usual, it might be a sign of a virus. Outdated software can also be an easy target for viruses, so make sure to always keep your programs up–to–date.
3. Check for unusual processes and files: Sometimes viruses can hide in the form of unknown processes or strange files. To view any unknown processes, open the Windows Task Manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL) and take a look at the list of running services. You should also take a look in your files and folders and search for any files that you’re unfamiliar with.
4. Malicious emails: Malicious links and attachments can be sent via emails. If you have opened any suspicious emails, then it‘s possible that you have been infected.
5. Get help: If you’re unable to detect any viruses on your own, it’s best to contact a professional who can help you find the source of the infection and remove it completely.
