1. Open the PDF you wish to convert in Preview, the default file viewer for Mac OS X.
2. Go to Tools > Show Inspector window.
3. Select the Color tab at the top of the Inspector window.
4. Use the sliders to adjust the colors to grayscale, sepia or black and white.
5. Once you are happy with the results, click “Apply” to save the changes.
6. To save the PDF in grayscale, go to File > Save As and choose PDF from the “Format” drop–down menu.
7. In the Save As window, choose “Grayscale” from the “Color Space” drop–down menu and then click “Save.”
