1. Open Disk Management by pressing Windows + R and typing “diskmgmt.msc” in the Run dialog box.
2. Select the drive that you would like to use for your swap file and right–click on it.
3. Click “Shrink Volume“ and enter the size of the partition you would like to create in the Shrink dialog box.
4. Once the partition is created, right–click on it and select “New Simple Volume.”
5. Follow the wizard until the “Format Partition” screen.
6. Select NTFS as the file system, and name the partition “Swap File” or something similar.
7. Select the option to “Enable file and folder compression,” and click Next.
8. Click Finish to complete the process and you should now have a swap file partition ready to use.
