1. Connect the Western Digital hard drive to your Mac computer using the appropriate data cable.
2. Launch the Disk Utility application located in the Utilities folder of your Mac.
3. Select the Western Digital hard drive from the list of disks shown in the left pane of the Disk Utility window.
4. Click the “Erase” button located in the Disk Utility window.
5. Select the desired file system type from the Volume Format drop-down menu. The most suitable choice is Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
6. Enter a name for the hard drive in the Name field.
7. Click the “Erase” button to start the reformatting process.
8. Wait for the process to finish and then click the “Done” button. Your Western Digital hard drive is now reformatted and ready for use on your Mac computer.
