1. Connect to the switch using an Ethernet cable and a console cable.
2. Launch the terminal emulation program (Putty or Tera Term).
3. Press the Mode button when the switch starts up. This will put it into “switch:” mode.
4. Type in “flash_init“ and press Enter to initialize flash memory.
5. Type in “load_helper” and press Enter to load the password recovery tool.
6. Type in “dir flash:” and press Enter to view existing files stored in the flash memory.
7. Type in “del flash:config.text“ and press Enter to delete the configuration file.
8. Type in “boot“ and press Enter to reboot the switch.
9. When the switch starts up, press the Mode button.
10. Type in “rename flash:config.text flash:config.old“ and press Enter to rename the configuration file.
11. Type in “copy flash:config.default flash:config.text“ and press Enter to copy the default configuration file.
12. Type in “configure memory“ and press Enter to save the configuration.
13. Type in “write memory“ and press Enter to write the configuration to the switch.
14. Reboot the switch and it will have been reset to factory settings.
