1. Log into your Cisco router.
2. Type in the following command: enable password <password>.
3. Enter the desired password.
4. Enter the command “configure terminal” to enter configuration mode.
5. Type in the command “line vty 0 4” to enter the VTY configuration mode.
6. Type in the command “password <password>” to enter the desired password for the VTY lines.
7. Type in the command “exit” to exit the VTY configuration mode.
8. Type in the command “end” to save the changes and exit configuration mode.
9. Type in the command “write memory” to save the changes to the router’s configuration.
1. Log into your Cisco router from the command line.
2. Enter the Enable mode by entering the enable command.
3. Enter the line configuration mode by entering the configure terminal command.
4. Enter the vty line configuration mode by entering the line vty 0 15 command.
5. Set the password for the router’s virtual terminal lines by entering the password <your–password> command.
6. Configure the login process for the router’s virtual terminal lines by entering the login command.
7. Return to the privileged exec mode by entering the end or exit command.
8. Save the configuration changes to your router by entering the write memory or copy running–config startup–config command.
