Using an Ethernet cable without a router is possible, but only in limited circumstances. If you have two computers that you want to connect directly together, you can use an Ethernet cable to do so. You can also use an Ethernet cable to connect a computer to a modem, allowing the computer to access the internet. However, if you want to connect multiple devices to the internet, you will need a router.
