A DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) server is a computer on a network that provides configuration parameters to other devices on the network. DHCP servers provide an assortment of configuration settings, including IP addresses, subnet masks, default gateways, DNS servers, and other network settings. The DHCP server dynamically assigns an IP address to a computer or device from a range of numbers configured for a given network.
