AFP (Apple File Protocol) is a proprietary network protocol developed by Apple Inc. for sharing files, printers, and other services on a local area network. It is a successor to the original AppleTalk protocol, and is included in all versions of the classic Mac OS, as well as the current macOS. AFP runs over TCP/IP, and is a cross-platform protocol, allowing interoperability between Mac, Windows, and Linux computers.
