ASCII (American Standard Code for Information Interchange) is a character encoding standard used for representing text. It assigns numerical codes to characters, including numbers, symbols and letters of the alphabet, both upper and lower cases. ASCII is the most commonly used character encoding standard and is the default format for text files in Windows operating systems.
