A Big Data engineer is a professional who specializes in designing and building large–scale data systems that are able to manage, store, process and analyze massive amounts of information. Most Big Data engineers have expertise in the use of big data platforms such as Apache Hadoop and Apache Spark; they also possess strong coding, scripting and system administration skills. They are typically involved in all stages of a big data project, from initial planning to deployment and maintenance.
