A cable connector is a device used to connect two or more communication cables or optical fibers together. It provides a mechanical connection between the cables, and often provides electrical connection as well. Cable connectors often have a gender, with plugs and jacks being the male and female connector, respectively. Cable connectors are used in a variety of applications, including home and office networking, audio/video, automotive, and industrial control.
