Cisco Systems announced in August 2020 that it would be restructuring its workforce and eliminating about 7% of its global workforce. The layoffs are part of a larger restructuring plan that the company is taking to reduce costs and remain competitive in the technology market. The layoffs are expected to affect about 14,000 employees across the company’s global operations.
