A database server is a computer program that provides database services to other computer programs or computers, as defined by the client–server model. The term may also refer to a computer dedicated to running such a program. Database management systems often provide database server functionality, and some DBMSs (e.g., MySQL) rely exclusively on its own internal database server. A database server can be either a single computer or a group of computers working together in a cluster.
A Database Server is a type of server that enables the storage, manipulation and retrieval of data. It provides users with access to databases where they can query, create, modify or delete records. Generally, it runs a database software, such as MySQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL or MongoDB.
