ESP (Encapsulating Security Payload) is a protocol used to provide authentication, integrity, and confidentiality to network traffic. It is used in conjunction with IPsec to secure data traffic between two points on a network. ESP ensures the confidentiality of data transferred over a network by encrypting it. It also provides authentication and integrity of the data by using a Message Authentication Code (MAC).
