An Ethernet switch is a networking device that connects multiple devices on a single network. It can be used to connect computers, printers, scanners and other wired devices together in a local area network (LAN). An Ethernet switch uses packets (or frames) to exchange data between connected devices. It works by forwarding a given packet from one port to another, depending on the destination address. Switches come in a variety of sizes and are available for both residential and commercial use.
