The Ethernet symbol is a stylized representation of the twisted-pair physical layer of the communications protocol. It consists of a hexagon with two crossed lines inside, symbolizing the twisted pairs of pins used in the cabling, and a triangle extending out of the center of the hexagon, symbolizing the transmission of data across the cable.
