IPv6 multicast is an extension of IP multicast that was developed for use in IPv6 networks. It enables the transmission of a single packet to multiple recipients simultaneously. It works by assigning a unique set of addresses to receivers designated in the packet header. These addresses are called IPv6 multicast group addresses and each group usually corresponds to a specific type of traffic.
