An IT support technician is an individual who provides technical assistance and support to users of computer hardware and software. They’re responsible for providing maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, problem solving and support services to ensure users have the correct equipment and software to perform their job, as well as ensuring all systems are functioning properly. In addition, IT support technicians often provide technical training for new users and help find solutions to technical problems.

IT Support Technicians may work in an office setting or remotely from a home office. They may also provide help desk support, manage IT projects, and provide training for computer users.
