The maximum safe temperature for any CPU varies depending on the processor, but generally speaking it is around 80–90°C (176–194°F). Temperatures above this range can cause the CPU to throttle its performance in order to avoid damage, and temperatures above 100°C (212°F) can be damaging to the processor.
