Monitor cables come in a variety of types, including VGA, DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort, Mini DisplayPort, and Thunderbolt. Each type of cable carries a different type of video signal, and different cables are needed for different monitor setups. VGA cables are the oldest and most common type of monitor cable and are typically used for analog signals. DVI cables are used for digital signals, and HDMI cables are used for both digital and analog signals. DisplayPort, Mini DisplayPort, and Thunderbolt cables are more recent additions and are used mainly for digital signals.
