A networking bridge is a device that connects two networks together so that they can communicate with each other. The bridge acts as a bridge between two networks, such as a LAN and a WAN, or two different LANs. By creating a bridge, the network devices on either side of the bridge can pass traffic and information back and forth. Bridges can also be used to join different types of networks, such as Ethernet and Token Ring, or even different types of media, such as copper and fiber.
