Network protocols are a set of rules that govern how computers communicate with each other on a network. These rules define how data is transmitted, organized and represented, as well as how messages are sent from one host to another. Network protocols play an important role in establishing communication between nodes or devices on the same network, allowing them to exchange information or resources. Some of the most common network protocols are TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP, SSH and FTP.
