Open source antivirus is a type of antivirus software that is created, developed and maintained by a collaborative community of computer security experts and programmers. This type of software is made available to the public under an open source license, usually with the intention of providing users with a free or low-cost alternative to proprietary antivirus software. Unlike proprietary software, open source antivirus code is available for anyone to view, modify and distribute.
