The OSI Model (Open Systems Interconnection Model) is a reference model for how applications can communicate over a network. It is a conceptual framework that standardizes the communication functions of a telecommunication or computing system without regard to its underlying internal structure and technology. The model divides the communication process into seven distinct layers, each of which represents a certain area of network operations. The layers are Application, Presentation, Session, Transport, Network, Data Link, and Physical. Each layer is responsible for a specific function and can interact with the layers above and below it.
