OSPF (Open Shortest Path First) is a routing protocol used to exchange routing information between routers in an IP network. It is a link-state routing protocol that uses the shortest-path algorithm to calculate the best path to send network traffic. OSPF is a widely used IGP (Interior Gateway Protocol) as it works well in large and complex networks. It is an open standard protocol that is used by a variety of vendors. OSPF also supports authentication, which allows for increased security.
