A PATA (Parallel ATA) hard drive is an internal hard drive that uses the older IDE standard of computer data transfer. PATA hard drives are connected to the motherboard via a ribbon–like cable and use the same pin connectors as floppy drives do. PATA hard drives are typically limited to about 127GB of storage, although newer models can support up to 2TB.
