Spanning Tree Cost is a metric used in the Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) to determine the best path for data to travel between two connected nodes. The cost is based on the link speed, so the faster the link, the lower the cost. The cost is expressed in numerical values, which are assigned to each link in the network. The spanning tree algorithm will then choose the least expensive route from source to destination.
