Bandwidth is the maximum amount of data that can be transferred over a communication channel in a given amount of time, and is usually measured in bits per second (bps). Throughput is the actual rate of data transfer over a communication channel, and is usually measured in megabits per second (Mbps). Bandwidth is the theoretical maximum, while throughput is the actual amount of data that is transferred.
