A router and modem are two separate devices that are both needed to connect your home or business to the internet. The modem is responsible for connecting your local network to your internet service provider (ISP). The router then takes the signal from the modem and distributes it wirelessly or via ethernet cables to all of the devices that are connected to the network. A modem and router are necessary to ensure that your devices can access the internet and communicate with each other.
