Cisco 3650 and 3850 switches differ in speed and uplink capabilities. Cisco 3650 is an enterprise–class access and aggregation layer switch that provides high availability, security and scalability. It offers 24 and 48 port Gigabit Ethernet models and supports speeds up to 10Gbps. The 3850 is a newer model than the 3650 and offers 24 and 48 port Gigabit Ethernet models as well as 10Gbps models. It also has a higher backplane capacity which makes it an ideal core switch. Additionally, the 3850 supports more uplink options such as Fiber and 10GBASE–T uplinks.
