1. Log in to the switch.
2. Access global configuration mode.
3. Make sure that you are in interface configuration mode. Enter the command “interface vlan 1”.
4. Enter the command “ip address <IPAddress> <SubnetMask>”. Replace IPAddress with the desired IP address and SubnetMask with the correct subnet mask.
5. Exit the interface configuration and save the configuration by entering the command “wr mem”.
6. Finally, issue the command “end” to exit from global configuration mode.
To assign an IP address to a Cisco switch 2960, use the following commands:
1. Log into the Cisco switch.
2. Enter global configuration mode by typing “configure terminal” and pressing Enter.
3. Enter the interface configuration mode for the desired interface (e.g. “interface fastethernet 0/1”)
