1. Create a system image:
Before you begin, make sure you have an external hard drive or other backup media available to save the image to.
a. Press the Windows key + X to open the Power User menu and select Control Panel.
b. Select System and Security.
c. Select File History.
d. Select System Image Backup in the lower-left corner.
e. Select the Create a System Image option on the left side of the window.
f. Select the location to save the image to.
g. Select the Next button.
h. Select the drives to include in the image.
i. Select the Start backup button.
2. Back up files and folders:
a. Press the Windows key + X to open the Power User menu and select Control Panel.
b. Select System and Security.
c. Select File History.
d. Select the Turn On button in the lower-left corner.
e. Select the Select Drive button and choose the location to save the files to.
f. Select the Exclude Folders button and choose any folders you want to exclude from the backup.
g. Select the Advanced Settings link.
h. Select the On button next to Save Copies of Files to turn it on.
i. Select the OK button.
j. Select the Back up Now button to start the backup.
