1. Log into your router using a web browser. Most routers use the address http://192.168.0.1 but you can also check your router manual for the specific address.
2. Enter the username and password. If you haven’t changed these they should be located on the router or in the router’s manual.
3. Look in the router’s settings to find the security type option. This is generally found in the Wireless section or Advanced settings.
4. Change the security type to one of the following: WEP, WPA, or WPA2. WPA2 is the most secure option and the recommended choice.
5. Enter the security key. This is the password associated with the security type you have chosen. Save your settings.
6. Test the new security settings by connecting to the network from a separate device. Make sure that the connection was successful and the new settings are working properly.
