1. Connect an Ethernet cable into the switch and the router.
2. Use a serial cable to connect the console port of the router to the console port of the switch.
3. Log into the switch with the console cable.
4. Configure the IP address on the switch.
5. Configure the IP address on the router.
6. Configure the port on the switch that connects to the router as a trunk port.
7. Configure the router to use the same VLANs as the switch.
8. Enable the trunk port on the router.
9. Verify the connection between the router and the switch.
