1. Use the IP address of your router. Most routers are configured to respond to a request sent to their own IP address. To find the IP address of your router, open a command prompt window and enter the command “ipconfig”. Look for the entry labeled “Default Gateway”; this is typically the IP address of your router.
2. Enter the IP address in your web browser’s address bar. This should bring up a login page for your router’s configuration page.
3. Log in with your username and password. If you’ve never changed the default username and password on your router, most likely these are both “admin”.
4. Locate the settings you wish to change. The user interface may vary depending on the make and model of your router. Common settings include changing the password or Wi-Fi name and setting up port forwarding.
