1. Log in to your Linux system as a regular user.
2. Open a terminal window or switch to a virtual console by pressing CTRL+ALT+F1.
3. Type in the username “root” and press Enter.
4. Enter the root password and press Enter.
5. You should now have a root shell prompt, which will be indicated by the # sign.
