1. Download the latest version of Minecraft Server from the official website (https://www.minecraft.net/en–us/download/server)
2. Once downloaded, open the files and extract them to a folder on your computer.
3. Open the newly created folder and create a new text file.
4. Edit the text file and make sure it contains the following line “java –Xmx1024M –Xms1024M –jar minecraft_server.1.7.10.jar nogui“
5. Save the text file as “run.bat“ (this will run the server on Windows computers) or as “run.sh“ (this will run the server on Mac computers).
6. Now you can start the server by double–clicking the file run.bat or run.sh.
7. The server will now be running and you can connect to it using the default port, which is 25565.
